Co-mail is the process of combining your publication with others to get the best postal rates and deepest drop ship penetration. First, the mail files are combined into one mailstream – allowing all the publications in that pool to achieve the most favorable rates and drop ship discounts. Then, each catalog or magazine is placed on the co-mail equipment, into a separate pocket (hopper) – normally around 30 pockets. The files tell the machine which pockets to pull from and then address each piece, allowing the different publications to be mixed within bundles.
This option is used for FLAT size mailings, less than 1lb, Standard or Periodical Mail.
Remember that we now offer co-mail of polybagged materials as well. Also, if you have messaging that you want included – instead of versioning, consider adding simple messages to the address block. This can be placed into your files and applied onto your piece during the co-mail operation.
