Postal reform develops; 5-day delivery dead

The USPS has filed a competitive price change with the PRC.

This notice provides the Governors’ Decision establishing the changes, including a statement of explanation and justification, which orders the changes into effect on January 17, 2016.

A few highlights:

  • On average, Priority Mail Express will see a price change that represents a 15.6 percent increase.
  • On average, Priority Mail prices will be increased by 9.8 percent.
  • On average, prices for non-Lightweight Parcel Select, the Postal Service’s bulk ground shipping product, will increase 3.1 percent.
  • Parcel Return Service prices will have an overall price increase of 5.0 percent.
  • Among other changes is the elimination of Priority Mail Express Flat Rate Boxes due to insufficient volume and the renaming of Standard Post to Retail Ground.
